CORSAIR Acquires Assets from Drop

CORSAIR, a leading provider of high-performance gear for gamers and content creators, has announced its acquisition of certain assets from Drop, a renowned peripheral developer known for its customizable mechanical keyboards and switches. Drop also boasts a large community of enthusiasts. The financial details of the all-cash transaction were not disclosed.

Established in 2011, Drop, formerly known as Massdrop, specializes in the development and sale of peripherals and enthusiast products. Its primary focus is on customized "DIY" keyboards, aftermarket designer keycaps, and desktop accessories. With input from its members, Drop has created a collection of over 120 vibrant, classic, and iconic sets that offer a high level of personalization for mechanical keyboard users from all backgrounds. The company has recently expanded its range to include Battlestation products, providing a wider selection of designer items for desks and workspaces. Drop has collaborated with various partners in the past, including officially licensed The Lord of The Rings and Marvel Infinity Saga keycaps. The Drop community actively participates in voting for new color schemes and concepts to consistently deliver fresh and sought-after styles.

"Personalized keyboards that can be customized by consumers are one of the fastest-growing trends in the gaming peripheral industry. Drop has established itself as a leader in this space, and with CORSAIR's global presence, we anticipate significant growth for the Drop brand worldwide. We are also thrilled to offer specialized Corsair and Elgato products to the enthusiast community that Drop engages with," said Andy Paul, Founder and CEO of CORSAIR.

"CORSAIR is the perfect partner to support Drop's growth and continue its mission of creating exceptional community-driven products," said Jef Holove, CEO of Drop. "With CORSAIR's worldwide sales and logistics capabilities, we will be able to make Drop products more readily available and faster, while maintaining the enthusiast-led product development that has earned Drop the trust of millions of fans for their setups and hardware."

Drop will operate as a separate brand under CORSAIR, and all existing warranties, purchases, and customer support requests will continue to be handled by the Drop team.
