Solid State Disks Ltd. Launches SCSIFlash-Fast

Solid State Disks Ltd. (SSDL), a leading manufacturer of solid-state-drives (SSDs) and a value-added reseller (VAR) of the latest-technology Flash and DRAM solutions, has introduced SCSIFlash-Fast. This is a swap-in upgrade/replacement for electromechanical hard disk drives (HDDs) that use the SCSI interface. The drive features configurable hardware and uses proven SCSI drive architecture and industrial CFast or M.2 SSD memory. It has write speeds of up to 80 MB/s and storage capacities ranging from 2 GB to 1 TB.

SCSIFlash-Fast is designed to replace or upgrade obsolete HDDs made in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. By doing so, it improves system reliability and security. James Hilken, SSDL's Sales & Marketing Director, states that many computer-based systems in sectors such as aerospace, defense, manufacturing, medical, and telecommunications were fitted with SCSI hard disk drives decades ago. These drives are now failing due to their moving parts. SCSIFlash-Fast provides a highly reliable swap-in replacement for any SCSI hard disk drive that is more than 20 years old.

SCSIFlash-Fast is configured to order and can replicate the exact behavior of the SCSI HDD it replaces, eliminating the need for modifications to the host system. The drive is set to the SCSI version of the host system and the disk sector size can be adjusted. Other configurations, including data preloading, are also available. Additionally, SCSIFlash-Fast is more reliable, secure, power-efficient, and quieter than the drives it replaces. It can also be networked with an optional Ethernet port for remote access.

Other features of SCSIFlash-Fast include automatic detection of data operation, support for multiple SCSI addresses and logical unit numbers (LUNs), and field upgradability via USB. The drive requires a 5VDC supply and consumes just 0.8 W. It has an industry-standard 3.5" disk drive form factor.

SCSIFlash-Fast is available now. Detailed datasheets of the launch drives can be found at www.solidstatedisks.com/legacy-tapes-drives.
